ASEAN Special Envoy Visits Myanmar Again

PHNOM PENH: The Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, DPM Prak Sokhonn, is paying a second visit to Myanmar to monitor the implementation of the military government agreement with ASEAN.

The DPM departed from Phnom Penh International Airport to Myanmar on Wednesday morning, 29 June.

He aims to monitor the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN five-point consensus (5PC) and the outcome of the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Consultation Meeting for Myanmar held on 6 May 2022 in Phnom Penh, and to also contribute to the creation of a conducive environment for political dialogue through meetings with all stakeholders.

DPM Prak Sokhon paid his first visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar from 21-23 March, at which time he said that it was a visit to learn about the current situation in Myanmar, learn about stakeholder positions and listen to the requests of the Myanmar side.

When speaking at a press conference after his first visit, the Special Envoy assessed that the results of his visit were quite good.
